Foursquare is expanding its integration with Esri, a global leader in location intelligence and geographic information system (GIS) technology, to deliver Foursquare’s global Places data to Esri users. We have been an Esri business partner since 2020 and with this integration, Esri customers can now access 100+ million high quality global points of interest (POIs), including rich venue details, in ArcGIS: Esri’s industry-leading software program for geospatial workloads and analysis.
Foursquare has developed a map of the world using first-party data uniquely derived from over 14 billion explicit check-ins from our consumer apps. Over 11 years we’ve refined this map and merged with leaders in the space to increase our breadth of sources and improve our ability to ingest, aggregate, and resolve billions of location data references to build a comprehensive global dataset.
“Esri is honored to partner with Foursquare, a market innovator in global location data,” said Lucy Guerra, Senior Product Manager, Data and Location Services at Esri. “Foursquare’s rich, local content and attributes add unparalleled value to the analytical work of our worldwide ecosystem of ArcGIS users.”
Together, Foursquare and Esri can help GIS professionals and analysts solve for a variety of business challenges, including:
- Site Analysis – inform retail, healthcare and other businesses on their investment and competitive strategies
- Demand Planning – understand macroeconomic trends of where places are opening or closing to help inform where to invest globally
- City Planning – analyze changes in a city or geography’s real estate footprint to breakdown what categories are expanding vs. contracting
- Supply Chain & Route Planning – inform planning models with precise place data to avoid errors and inefficiencies
“We’re thrilled to partner with the market leader for GIS and announce that our location data is now available to customers in Esri’s ArcGIS software,” said Lea Purcell, VP of Business Development at Foursquare “Foursquare’s data comes from a unique consumer-first lens allowing customers to derive fresh insights from Esri’s powerful suite of applications and analytics capabilities.”
