We are excited to celebrate our interns and all of the hard work they have put in for the summer!
Here at Foursquare, we’re always looking to innovate and discover new ways to leverage the power of location data – and that starts with our team. We kicked off this summer’s internship program on June 6th and welcomed 16 new interns to our engineering department.
Our internship program is one of the many ways we’re thinking ahead and doing our part to cultivate future leaders. Foursquare believes internships are an important way for students to develop their technical and soft skills by solving real-world problems. They also offer professional development opportunities for Foursquare engineers who are mentoring interns.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Foursquare so far, it has offered me an extremely unique work culture and I’m very excited for what the rest of the summer holds!” said Teague Rice, one of this summer’s interns on the Targeting Back End team.
We’re pleased to say that this is our largest summer class yet and includes interns across our offices in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco. Our interns are working on a variety of projects including:
- Modernizing existing solutions
- Cost analysis and optimization
- Automation of disjointed workflows
- Photo classification
- Rewards prize redemption
These projects will allow our interns to apply and build upon skills such as UX, software design, optimization, data analysis, storytelling. Many will also have the opportunity to pick up new skills and languages along the way.
Throughout the summer, interns will hear firsthand from Foursquare executives on the state of technology, how Foursquare is impacting businesses industry-wide and tips and tricks on building a successful career postgrad. Not to mention, they will end their data-driven summer with a party to celebrate all their hard work and contributions to the Foursquare team.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Foursquare thus far because the projects I’m working on are truly impactful to the company and everyone I’ve worked with is always willing to answer my questions and support me in any way I need,” said PMO intern Menna Elamroussy. “Foursquare in general is also just a very fun place to work with a great culture!”
